Favorite country song

What's your favorite, that you can listen to over and over and never get tired of it? It's so hard to pick one, but I do greatly enjoy Outskirts of Heaven by Craig Campbell.

One of my favorites is Humble and Kind by Tim McGraw, just love that song. I like In Color by Jamey Johnson a lot too.

Seven Spanish Angels... It's such a wonderful song, and it wouldn't be the same without Ray Charles. I get goosebumps when he comes in on it.

Pancho and Lefty is another one that I love, love, love

Jack a'Diamonds and Are you Sure Hank Done it This Way by Waylon Jennings

Bonnie and Clyde by Travis Tritt

Faster Horses by Tom T. Hall is great. Lyrics below..

They Highwayman by The Highwaymen (Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristoferson and Waylon Jennings). The last verse also gives me goosebumps and for a long long time, the last two lines were in my sig here:

I fly a starship
Across the Universe divide
And when I reach the other side
I'll find a place to rest my spirit if I can
Perhaps I may become a highwayman again
Or I may simply be a single drop of rain
But I will remain, And I'll be back again, and again and again......

And then there is THE king of country - Mr. George Strait. I love all his music, but Easy Come; Easy Go and Come to Expect this From You are two songs that hold special places in my heart because hearing them takes me back to a fond Moment that my brain will always associate with the song.

As far as new stuff, there's not much I like but I love Chris Stapleton and Cody Jinks. Can't get enough of them, and just discovered Stapleton's first band: The Steel Drivers.

More Than You'll Ever Know by Travis Tritt had just came out when Hubs and I got married. That was our wedding song, so that's absolutely at the top of the list. Gets me all mushy.

I'm stuck on Old Town Road though and I have no idea why it's grown on me. It's just not my genre of music.

I have a very lengthy country playlist on spotify, most of it is classic country, and I can't share it over here because HF is bbcode and I'm not sure here how to include it, but anyone ever wants to follow me on spotify, I'm there as mistykennedy22 (Also don't mind putting my real name out there, so no one freak out. ;)

Faster Horses by Tom T. Hall

He was an old-time cowboy, don't you understand
His eyes were sharp as razor blades his face was leather tan
His toes were pointed inward from a-hangin' on a horse
He was an old philosopher, of course

He was so thin I swear you could have used him for a whip
He had to drink a beer to keep his britches on his hips
I knew I had to ask him about the mysteries of life
He spit between his boots and he replied

"It's faster horses, younger women,
Older whiskey, and more money"

He smiled and all his teeth were covered with tobacco stains
He said, "It don't do men no good to pray for peace and rain.
Peace and rain is just a way to say prosperity,
And buffalo chips is all it means to me."

I told him I was a poet, I was lookin' for the truth
I do not care for horses, whiskey,
Women or the loot I said I was a writer,
My soul was all on fire
He looked at me an' he said, "You are a liar."

"It's faster horses, younger women,
Older whiskey, and more money"

Well, I was disillusioned, if I say the least
I grabbed him by the collar and I jerked him to his feet
There was something cold and shiny layin' by my head
So I started to believe the things he said

Well, my poet days are over and I'm back to being me
As I enjoy the peace and comfort of reality
If my boy ever asks me what it is that
I have learned I think that I will readily affirm

(Son)

"It's faster horses, younger women,
Older whiskey, and more money"

Faster horses comes in a close second for me, and is tied with Buckskin Horse by Dave Stamey.

The Audreys are a band from Adelaide, Australia which many of you in the US probably haven't heard of. I generally don't enjoy country, but I love their stuff. They have a lot of blues / roots in their mix.

I have to be in the mood to listen to country, generally speaking, but "I've Had My Moments" by Emerson Drive is probably my favorite, of what I consider country.

Don't judge someone's horse or skill because they don't compete or work with a trainer.

Sometimes they're the most in tune with each other.
