Still enjoy watching it though...
Love watching it too. The poem ( http://www.theotherpages.org/poems/pater01.html )includes the lines:

And he ran them single-handed till their sides were white with foam;
He followed like a bloodhound on their track,
Till they halted, cowed and beaten; then he turned their heads for home,
And alone and unassisted brought them back.
But his hardy mountain pony he could scarcely raise a trot,
He was blood from hip to shoulder from the spur;
But his pluck was still undaunted, and his courage fiery hot,
For never yet was mountain horse a cur.

Think I like the sanitized movie version better, regardless of reality!
Foxhunter and JoBlueQuarter like this.

Riders ask "How?" Horsemen ask "Why?"

I believe the black stallion tv series was one of the worst i have ever seen. I was just a kid and i remember thinking how bad it was!

Russell Crowe in the Silver Stallion was always jerking on the reins. I believe he knows better now! And has been taking dressage lessons.

There are a few shots at the end after the chase, especially where he lopes out of the corral then turns and looks at Jessica where it looks like they painted blood on the horse's flanks. I think most of it sweated off, but in a few shots it's there.
