I love your go-get-em attitude.

Wear whats comfortable. IMO all jeans should be stretch :) and I agree with emeraldsprings, long sleeves reduces grazes on your arms. Invest in a decent pair of riding boots, the ankle boots are fine for everyday riding wear and a helmet is a must. Gloves are optional.

Have fun

I am a runner, and when other people who want to run ask me what to wear, I always tell them that footwear is the only important thing. Everything else is just about comfort. I think riding is very similar, at least in my limited experience.

I learned to ride in jeans and paddock boots.

Aside from safety (helmet, good boots, clothing that is safe and comfortable) it really doesn't matter at all. Just wear what you want. You can buy stuff as you go.

Something good to wear to the barn (outside and messy) and something good around horses (a flappy windbreaker is a no go for some). Don't stress about it.

Watch the thickness of the inseam if you wear jeans or not made for riding type pants. That can get irritating. I like a vest to wear for warmth. I have a collected several of various weights over the years. That and a long sleeve shirt I find work great and allows for freedom of movement.
