Chick's Saddlery

Hello again, kind community.I have a question about this site I recently found:Chick's Saddlery.I was wondering if you guys had any experience with it.Would this be a good source for tack and other horse supply?Do they have a good reputation?

Also,I have found interest in one of their products, specifically of the King Series brand.I was wondering of your experience with this brand.

I am not going to buy anything for the horse until I get it...But I am trying to find websites and brands that are not infamous in the horse community.

All help and criticism is appreciated, but please try to be composed in the chat.

On a off note,I am a dude but if this site is not bad I do not really care if it is for "chicks",L.O.L.

Thank you and good day,

Sylvangro

(Just in case this is needed.I am 5'6-5'9 with an average,above-average build.I also have big feet.Just in case you need to know this, thanks again)

I hope everyone and their horses experience love and happiness throughout their lives.

I don't have any experience with Chick's Saddlery. nor with the King Series saddles.

all I can say is that one is always better off to buy a second hand saddle of better quality, than a new saddle of lesser quality. saddles are a bit like cars; some hold their value better than others.

we had a bad experience with them, we ordered something and a few days went by and they had billed us yet never shipped the item like wanted, we called them and they checked and they didn't have the item in stock and it showed they were multiple items short in their system for a lot of things, and eventually got a refund and went somewhere else

as for the King saddle, I have one.. been riding in it for 3 years now.. holds up well, has a 5 year warranty.. it hasn't fallen apart yet.. good starter saddle imo and actually fits my horse decent.. it has the semi synthetic tree everyone swears to avoid.. but I figured if it lasted me 5 years I'd buy a really good saddle to replace it, hasn't warped or cracked even when it was kept in a non climate controlled area of a barn in hot/ cold

I have bought many things for Chick's Saddlery! They have lots of good deals on products, but like any store you have to know what is good and what is not. King saddles are not good.

If you are looking for a saddle at a good price, check out Western saddles; Billy Cook, Circle Y , Tucker & used western trail saddles they have a huge selection and the staff is very experienced. They can help you find a good saddle at a good price.

yes billy cook, circle y etc are much better.. but most people starting out are not willing to drop 1k + for a used saddle starting out. When I started out my budget I was given by my significant other was $350.. for saddle, not too many of them for that price in 17 inch or larger, if I stuck with it I was told I could always get a better one later.. which is my plan, after I now have a trailer, and next comes truck then new nicer tack

I probably sound like a broken record, and it may not fit every horse of course, but Corriente makes VERY durable, good quality western saddles for under $1000 brand new. I think I paid around $600 for mine new, maybe it was closer to $700 I don't remember, and then I found a second one for under $600 used/like new and it is actually my favorite.

They hold their value well too, people ask the same price for used ones as new ones where I live. So while they aren't a $350 saddle, as far as new saddles go, they are a huge bargain for a quality saddle.

I have a King Series saddle and have had it for nearly 7 years. It has held up really well, nothing has ever broken on it and it fits my gelding pretty well. I bought mine from horse.com for...around $300? It's a good starter saddle but I love the look of leather more so I probably wouldn't purchase one again unless for someone else. Look on craigslists, thats where I found my mare's leather barrel saddle. Really good saddle package for $300.

I personally have not ordered from Chicks Saddlery. I was looking on their website the other day for Classic Equine SMBs and was disappointed they did not sell them.

Keep going, keep moving forward. You'll get it together someday.

I haven't ever ordered, but someone I ride with recommended them to me as she orders there. My favorite companies are still Smartpak, Schneiders, and sometimes Stateline, and surprisingly, often Amazon has the best price. Smartpak and Schneiders have great customer service so I try to order from then when I can.

I have bought from Chick's Saddlery for close to 30 years...
I have never had a issue with them of misrepresentation of something being sold...
Found their description was darn near spot-on accurate...if in question I would call and speak to a sales rep directly.
They have "basics" and some nicer quality at discount prices.
I worked at a English boarding/lesson barn and the lesson horses tack came from Chicks I am positive as I received the shipment.. It was functional, good quality and stood up to daily use with no problems.
They also do have "affordable" show tack and it is fine to use for local show but is not the standard or quality of top of the line tack, but price reflects that accordingly too.
Like any business they sometimes run out, get back-ordered or send a wrong item by mistake.
If it happens I had immediate replacement sent at their expense overnight and they either sent shipping materials for the return or I was told to keep it depending upon the value and what the error product sent was.
I have bought everything from brushes to lead shanks, name plated leather halters to nylon halters, bridles, saddle pads and all kinds of tack for English and Western riding disciplines...can you tell I purchased much from them and still do!
They not only have entry level saddles but they do carry some "name brands" many make mention of, yet because of how they market they charge less than other places.
King is a entry line of saddles. I don't own one but have ridden in one and it was OK.
The company does have a 5 year warranty on the saddle tree.. as good as many "name" manufacturers are offering.
For myself, I have only leather saddles. Part of how I was introduced to horses and their equipment and part is the fit for me I did not find a comfortable match in the synthetic brands I tried. Today there are many choices though, some better than others and good fit for horse and the rider differences too.
There are also combo saddles that offer leather and synthetic together...another option to look into.
Happy shopping!!

Bottom line, Chicks is a reputable company.
They are not only a internet company but a real store in Delaware.

I don't ride Western, but have been buying from Chick's for years. They're usually very reasonably priced, and they ship out quickly.
