I mean at this point, I would be happy with keeping just the pony for a while. I could bond more with him. Gain more experience and knowledge before getting another horse. But of course he would be lonely without another horse as a companion. The thought of that makes me feel bad. I feel like Im stuck between a rock and a hard place. I know what I should do but having a hard time just doing it.

Being a horse newbie, why would the seller pick this horse for me. I explained that I was more than likely not going to ride. ...QUOTE]

I can't speak for Corporal, but I'll tell you my thoughts. Perhaps I'm being unkind, but $$$$$.

As Corporal said, it happens often. Even when money isn't involved, I've seen "rescue" operators guilt folks into taking in animals they are not prepared to handle. Everything from horses to unruly dogs to batpoop crazy cats.

You know what you want from the companion animal for your pony. Take your time, and don't settle for anything else. Your pony will be OK alone for a while. And of course, it always has you!
