Good book for 8yo beginner?

Hey guys! My 8yo stepson had his first lesson this weekend, and he loved it! I am so happy and proud. He told me after that he wants to train horses for the Olympics I hope he maintains this level of enthusiasm, because this is a dream come true for me! Anyway, I would love to get him a book that has some good beginner info in it. Parts of the tack, parts of the horse, how to groom, the different gates, stuff like that. He retains information really well when reading and likes to learn about things, especially things he likes doing so I thought he'd enjoy a book. I know I had some when I was a kid but I have no idea what books they were. Any suggestions?

"The Arabian, a guide for owners" by Sharon Byford

I like this book because a lot of the information is not breed specific in spite of the title. Sharon goes straight to the point in plain language, good for all readers.

The boy scout merit book handbook or the $H handbook are both very informative and basic. A good starting point.

Another would be The Pony Club Manual of Horsemanship.

We have two that are both simple reads with lots of nice pictures.
Judy Richter's Riding for Kids

And Cherry Hill's Horse Care for Kids

I'm not sure if it's still in print, but my favorite horse book as a kids was Album of Horses by Marguerite Henry. Also check at your local library in the kid's book section to see what horse books they carry and check them out to see if one would be appropriate for him. Kids also enjoy fictional books on the subjects that interest them, but be sure to check that the information in them is based on facts to avoid Black Beauty syndrome.

Praire I have seen that Marguerite Henry book at the used book sellers at very reasonable prices so even if not in print it can be found. I never noticed I typed $ for the 4 in 4H.
