If you were getting weekly riding lessons, attending clinics etc. It might work, maybe you could ask to trial the horse for a while just to see if you think you're capable :) If not, I hope you find a lovely pony soon! Good luck

In saying that though, you need to be aware that the horse is young and unpredictable. My current boy was green-broken when I bought him, and did a wide manner of silly things before he quietened down!
