Hi all. I'm a late to the party rider, 58 years old. I rode maybe ten or fifteen times total growing up, and started lessons a year and a half ago when I retired. I am riding western.

I have probably averaged six private lessons a month and I started out learning about grooming and tacking up from day one. This summer, my instructor has had a weekly two-hour group lesson, so I have been doing one private, and one group a week. The group is a ton of fun, and the members have a wide range in experience. We do patterns and formations and work with cows.

I just love it!

Next week, I am starting a half lease with a twelve year old, sixteen hand, Paint gelding-Ollie. I am so excited. I've gotten to the point where I know I just need more time on the horse. My plan is to alternate group and private lessons each week, and ride in the arenas for practice two days a week.

I've been lurking since before starting lessons, but I'll probably be posting now.

I'll try to figure out how to post a photo of us.
