Half chaps and hot weather

I'm riding tonight in about 3 hours. It's hot, and it's raining. Right now I'm wearing capris, and would really like to continue wearing them for the rest of the night. Would it be acceptable enough to just put my half chaps over them? I ride western and the barn is very casual as far as what you wear.

I wish I could also wear my sandals, but that won't go over well

When I'm riding at home I often wear cut offs with half chaps. I've got a few pairs that fit really nicely that I wouldn't feel awkward about trail riding in. If you're comfortable I can't see that it matters.
I wouldn't ride in sandals.

Just winging it is not a plan

I say wear what you want ;) While my stockpile of breeches and polo tops is massive, if it's hot out you'd better believe I'll be wearing shorts lol

I did that a few times but my legs got super itchy afterwards from my half chaps so I stopped doing it. But my legs pretty much itch in anything so...I'm still on the lookout for a pair of summer breeches that won't make me super sweaty and itchy on my legs.

Have fun on your ride and stay cool! :)

I wear jeans when I ride (Western) no matter how hot it is. That's just what is comfortable for me.

Horse hooves and sandals just do not mix. Ask anyone who's found that out the hard way.

So besides the ixnay on the sandals, wear what is comfortable as far as leg-wear. I see people ride in Western saddles wearing shorts but not me -- I don't like my skin getting pinched or rubbed.

It is not enough to know how to ride; one must know how to fall.

The key is to not wear clothes that are so loose that they can get caught in something or footwear/legwear that isnt safe for the same reasons(without a heel). I am notorious for living in lululemon pants(yoga pants), and will ride in them quite often. I do always half chaps if I ride in them and tall boots when I wear riding pants. I think you wearing them shouldn't be an issue.

It's not a fashion show, wear what's comfortable, safe, and protective.
