Happy!

I just got back on my boy after almost 2 weeks off. We got a clean bill of health from the vet today and I got on for the first time in about 10 days.

Felt great! He was in good shape, and back to his old (*sigh*) challenging self. Ah well, if he wasn't trying to cut corners and veer off track, he wouldn't be him!

It was such a lovely feeling to zip (ok, maybe "jog" is closer to the truth) around again, and see that "Ok, what's next, Mom?" expression on his face, see his ear(s) cock back saying, "And now? What are we doing now?"

I can't believe how much I missed that content, soft eye he has after we practice, and I get off, and sometimes he gives me a little lovey grooming nibble (usually in response to me easing the girth and bridle, and fussing over him, fixing his mane, etc)

There's no real point to this post, beyond - this new adult rider is very happy, and her horse is happy, too. (Note: Tomorrow is a lesson, I predict slightly less happiness on everyone's part)

Any pics from the ride? Come on now!

Sounds like a good day and an even better feeling. That's awesome for you guys :)

To ride a horse is to ride the sky.

Just back from the lesson. We (well, really me) have regressed considerably condition wise, and Al will probably need a lot of slower, shorter sessions to stay fit -- but that's ok! That gives me more time to get fit, too.

I don't have a great picture but if this one comes through, it's a favorite - Al taking a nap in his stall. He takes a nap after dinner every day, like clockwork. Adorable....
