One of those two areas across the drives furthest from where cars and equipment are located could be used for Mulberry. You could harvest and feed plus use the berries for fresh consumption, jams. jellies and pies....my favorite use. The horses love them as well.

Delicious! We finally got around to planting two last year, of the old Black Mulberry type - the one that has the most antioxidants and makes the most mess and fun! It suits our climate. I love about these that, like lavender and rosemary (not horse fodder, but the donkeys decided to nibble some rosemary the other day), they are easily propagated from cuttings, so I'll never have to buy Black Mulberries again. All the prunings go to the livestock.

I really like multi-purpose plants like that.

SueC is time travelling.

We had a Pakistani variety that we loved for cobblers as well as several lavender or white (non staining) that we enjoyed (as well as the livestock) but sadly lost to a fertilizer incident. My rare foray into commercial use for extended coverage and it was laced with herbicide (unintentionally). The check the company provided could never replace much of what was killed.

What I have now are from cuttings my husbands family brought from Italy in the early 1900's. They are a black variety.
