Already tried that. They think he can do it. I don't know...depends on the horse and we have only had this boy for a day.

Ebony, let me put it to you this way. I have been riding for nearly 40 years now and when I got my green horses, I got a trainer to help me train them.

He is not training them for me, he is HELPING me to train my own horse.

He works with them for an hour, to assess the progress made in his absence and then I work with them for an hour with his observation and together we configure a plan for me to work them additional hours during the week.

His observations and corrections of my technical riding are invaluable, as well as his observations on the over all picture of progress.

Honestly, I am not as concerned for the welfare of your brother as I am for the long-term well being of the horse.

Hand him a book, point him to some videos and see how far he gets before he gets scared or asks for help. Maybe he'll surprise you.

Personally I think your parents are being foolish by not getting a trainer to help him, but if they want to pay the ER/doctor bills, that's their decision.

Thank you, Mulefeather. Good idea. I have no power right now.

Guess this is one of those time's everyone will have to learn the hard way. I just feel bad for the horse.

Then let him. He will soon lose interest.

he has already said no to help, so why solicit it here? I think it's a waste of your and our time, honestly.

That was my thought... I'm not exactly sure what sort of answers you were looking for if you're just going to tell us it doesn't matter since he won't listen.

If he won't listen to you about not training this horse, what makes you think he'll want to hear your list of things that he should do to train it?
