Horse with club foot

Hello I'm new to owning a horse and have a question. I have a 5 year old quarterhorse gelding who was sound when I bought him. He had shoes on the front and threw the one on the left a couple of times then went lame. After several blocks he was diagnosed via ultrasound with a tear in his lateral collateral ligament of coffin. He was stalled 5 months and has developed more of a clubfoot on the front left and is still lame. He is barefoot and getting trimmed every 2 weeks to reshape that hoof but is still off. I'm debating getting an MRI because I'm not sure if there is still some ligament damage and am unsure of how to manage the club hoof. He's on a hoof supplement. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Hmm, I think this is beyond the scope of a forum to get specific advice on. I'd be wanting to work with a hoof care practitioner who is very experienced with rehab AND a good lameness specialist vet - if they work in conjunction with eachother, that's your best bet I reckon, and yes, MRI to gauge what soft tissue damage/inflammation there may be would be good, but after 5 months, there will also be ossification of the damaged ligament, so 'osteo arthritis' - that can start 6 WEEKS after injury! Therefore I'd want rads done to know the degree of that too.
