She's a sweetie! I can't wait to see how she looks after a few months in your care :)

Congrats on being a new horse mom!

Update

Wow, it doesn't feel like I had her just a little more than 2 weeks!
It feels much longer, and I am really proud of her.

Since I was aware of her catching issue, this was my first point of my priority list. I don't like hard to catch horses, lol. When I got her, she would run away as soon as you get closer than 2 yards and even in the round pen it would take 3 hrs to catch her. This was with 2 people and Raya wearing a halter

Put her in the pasture and she prescribed me a good fitness program (I actually needed that anyway) to catch her... 5.5. hrs was the (hopefully) maximum, but she learned the hard way that I will NOT give up, lol.

And look at her now: Free of the "catch" halter (probably the first time in over a year), and walking up to me to say hello when I go in the pasture!
She still needs a little time to let me halter her - let's say 5-10 min of scratching and petting her head (impossible before), but I can live with that!!!

And the best of all: when my skittish girl startles, some scratches on her neck or face calm her down!

Wow! Great job! It's an amazing feeling isn't it?? I've had my girl (leased) for about 3 weeks now and they said she wouldn't stand in cross ties and I would have to groom her in her stall. She also fought me to get bridled up. We now groom quietly in cross ties everyday and she lowers her head and goes easily into the bridle.

It will only continue to get better as you build that trust and bond. Congrats again!

It's amazing what lots of TLC and consistency can do! Good job on getting her to behave! She is gorgeous, btw!

Raya just melts my heart and almost brought me to tears when she initiated contact for the very first time . The plan is just to continue with Raya the way I am working with her now and just tackle one thing after another... Today was her first day in crossties

I still have to tone down by body language around my girl - actually a lot - but I am still used to my lesson horse, an amazing DraftX, as she needs quite some clear signals, lol. But I get used to that and it doesn't hurt my mare to realize humans are not out to eat her

Wow congratulations! I've been wanting a horse since my very first lesson and I've only been riding for about a year and I'm only 13😂. I'm so happy you found your forever horse and she is gorgeous!
