I had 2 mares (mother and daughter) that never would touch apples or carrots. But they both LOVED pears.

Grate a small carrot/ Apple and mix it in with the feed. Once they get the taste for it you have no problem.

My personal horse does not like any treats. His pasture mates will eat many kinds.

I used to have a horse that liked pizza and chop suey, but not apples or carrots.

Not a big deal if a horse doesn't want a treat, IMO.

I would check his teeth - then I would worry about changing his feed.
My horse's favrotie thing is apples. one day he absolutely refused to to eat one - but he showed no other signs of anything, even about his teeth. The floater came up a week later and it took four hours to pull a rotted tooth out of his head. Now he loves apples again.
check his teeth - then worry about his feed.

thanks guys. Midnight is super cuddly, and loves being patted, I guess It would just be nice to feed him something yummy once in a while besides grass. I'm not really concerned about it though.

Is there anything he will eat? Try feeding him that and sneaking the treats in. I knew a mare that wouldn't eat peppermints, but enjoyed popcorn. Sneaking the peppermint into a handful of popcorn worked wonders, she finally realised that they were edible and yummy!
