In a normal year, I attend about 5 or 6 shows. The entry fees are the cheap part, it's the diesel getting there that costs and if out of town, the hotel fees. If it's a bigger show with prize money, I usually make enough to recover my entry fees, sometimes the diesel too. And the other stuff, we always go out for dinner after a show, it's a tradition with my coach and we take turns paying for her dinner as she doesn't charge us coaching fees so it's the least we can do for her. Also purchasing, upgrading, and adding to your show tack, grooming supplies and show outfits are a big money drain.
