Find somebody else to help, like I posted earlier. Too bad your don't live near ME. I could use help on Saturdays.

A Jack and Three Queens, the latest book by James C. Dedman, Amazon.com
Hope that you fall in love with "Trot", like I did! https://www.horseforum.com/general-of...queens-617793/

You started out with a horse with issues that needed to be dealt with and an owner who refused to do anything about it and you found a way to correct both problems. Congratulations !

Bit of an update

Things really couldn't be going better. The horse I've been training has become one of the sweetest horses I've encountered. He'll still crowd the gate at feeding time but backs off with a point of the finger.

He's gone from having no idea what I was asking for in the round pen to doing reasonably consistent gait and direction changes. More importantly he's relaxed about it... jeeze when I first started asking for direction changes he'd start galloping like a cougar was cornering him.

He's a much happier horse now. He's happy to be groomed. There have been no further incidents of serious food aggression. He's as affectionate as can be.

The owner has noticed this and is quite pleased and her and I get along much better these days.

So everything has turned out about as well as it could have. I thank you all for giving me the confidence to push the issue.
