Introduction & New to horses! * Noob! *

Hello! My name is Camille and I am a fairly young girl living in Virginia who loves her two cats and hamster. I've wanted to ride since I was little but since my family wasn't financially "ready?" to give me lessons, I was never able to do them. But now things are a lot brighter and I am ready to start lessons! :) I'm looking forward to take lessons western because it suits my style more then english riding! One of the things I'm looking forward to is trail riding! I love hiking, how much better would it be if I was on a horse? Plus, Virginia here is gorgeous! But I'm such a noob, and I need to learn so much more about horses! I'm planning to start my lessons in late February or march and I'm really excited, and I might even do a summer camp.

Anyways, I'm looking forward to be a member of this forum! :) If anybody has tips on horses, western riding, trail riding, or just noobie information, that would be highly appreciated! Thank you!

Welcome and enjoy your journey into the world of horses!

Reading, talking with and asking questions to horse owners are probably the first steps you need to take. Second will be your lessons.

Another thing to know is that there are many different ways horse owners use to accomplish the same thing so that can get confusing for a new person. Doesn't make what one does wrong and the other right. Pay attention, soak in all the knowledge that you can and then as you get more experience you can decide what works best for you.

Thanks! :) I did hear that there are tons of different techniques, so I'll guess I'll have to learn as I go!
