Jockey Club Registration Question

I just got the registration papers for our new thoroughbred.

I see on the back there is a list of signatures of his past owners. Obviously I need to sign there. I also went online to the Jockey Club website and submitted a registration change. I had to make an account, then I had to enter his name, his dam's name, and his birth year, and the purchase date.

Is that all I have to do? It seemed so unofficial and so easy. Does anyone else have experience w/ Jockey Club papers?

Yep, that's everything. OTTBs are very easy to transfer registration.

He's a grandson of "the Fish" -- nice.

The boxes just show his line breeding. They change color depending how often you visit the page.

Yes, it's awesome to hold his "title". Also, his owners are listed on the back, so of course I immediately Googled them all because I'm a stalker. I didn't know he was an OTTB, but his one owner bought him from the track at age 3. It doesn't look like he raced, though. Makes sense since he's SO laid back. I found her on Facebook, and it was fun to look through his 3-year-old pics. She trained him to jump, and then he was sold to the teenager we bought him from. (he's 7 now).

His original breeder/trainer owns like 200 thoroughbreds and races. Can you even imagine the cost of a 200-horse stable, with all of the grooms, etc.?

Stalking past owners is mostly okay right?

I don't know who "The Fish" is? Or is that Real Quiet's nickname? The only ones I recognized were Real Quiet & Northern Dancer. Danzig sounded familiar, but I might have been thinking of the rock band.

Do you know what the other #'s across the top are? I realize it says he didn't race, but to the left of that?

Yeah. "The Fish" was Baffert's nickname for Real Quiet because he was such a narrow horse.

The numbers are called dosage, which is basically analyzing the pedigree's strengths.

Team Valor has a nice write up about how dosage works (which is probably easier than me trying to explain it)
