BTW, there is a little icon above the box you type in that shows what looks like a mountain scene. Click that and a window comes up to enter the URL of the image you'd like to post. Click ok and viola! it's posted.

I'm going out to see Blessing today. I did notice yesterday that she like to kick out her left hind a little bit, however, I don't know if that's just something she does or she may possibly be sore on her legs for some reason. I'm picking her hooves today (forgot my hoof pick at home yesterday).

I managed to walk behind her safely without getting kicked. She may just need to get used to me... I'm hoping she'll do well with me picking her feet today. Honestly, I was a little unsure about walking behind her, because I'm not familiar with her and I don't know if she has any habits I don't know about.

Any suggestions on things I can do with her today besides parelli games?

The advice I received here on the ranch from experienced people is to just spend time with your horse. And they suggest that every single time they see you they should not have to anticipate having to do stuff for you. They should also anticipate having stuff done for them.

After I was sort of promised to have Hondo providing or depending on how I got along with him and horses in general, I did not even ride him for about the first month. I just went on walks with him. And surprise! We would find dishes of pellets and treats along the way.

Hondo will now walk over to me out of a herd of 17 and stick his nose into the bridle, not halter, bridle.

We are bonded. I'm hooked.

So I think their advice was good. Just spend time. Get to know him. Get to understand who he is along with always being a horse of course.

Another piece of advice I got from somewhere that has proved beneficial, to me at least, is when setting a goal with a horse, figure on achieving 1% per day for 100 days. Don't rush it.

Yea! That's three. But your pic did not come through.

Edit: I clicked it and it came up.

Talking Congrats!

Oh my gosh! I just want to start out by saying that I'm so very happy for you! It's a dream of mine to get a horse for Christmas or my birthday. Hopefully it will happen soon!
Anyways, you can do so much! Now before you do anything too fast, I would just start with bonding and getting to know each other. You can just sit in the pasture with her and watch her eat and play around. You could go into the round pen and just do tricks and stuff too! Just get to know each other and take it easy.

I honestly hope you have an amazing journey together and I'm so excited for you. :)
