I looked at the medical board and Indy is on Bute and Adequan for his hocks. They are anti-inflammatory drugs, I think.

Today I was giving him a good grooming and rebraided his mane (he has a long thick mane and gets super hot under it). Every so often, I'd stop grooming, pick up each foot for a few seconds, and praise and scratch him. We're not allowed to hand feed treats, but he loves being scratched, so I figure it's a good reward. Even though I never got that hind foot high enough to pick, I could see a difference in just the hour or so I spent with him. He started to at least take his weight off of it, and he never seemed to get upset.

One of the instructors saw me, and said everyone has trouble picking his foot up, but I was doing exactly what I should be doing to train him.

I'm going to go back Friday, to give him a bath. One of the instructors offered to show me how to clean his sheath and clip his bridle path. He's going to look gorgeous!

Also, yesterday he nickered when he saw me, and I about melted!

Congrats on your horse! This definitely full of good advice for picking up feet, and you seem to be doing really well with the training.

Maybe you could celebrate the occasion with one of those jelly mitts sold at tack stores? They aren't just for grooming, they are fantastic at massaging the horses muscles. I've never met a horse who didn't love a good deep tissue love! Here's a link (https://www.statelinetack.com/item/t...9-adType%5EPLA)

Oooh. That looks cool. He loves to be scratched and rubbed. Today I was brushing his face after his bath, and he lowered his head really low and almost fell asleep! Lol I'm so in love!
