I've read this entire thread and I'm also dying to know if she's pregnant! Do you know yet?

Hi guys. Update time! The vet has been out today, she thinks due to how she was kept with the stallion it's highly likely, so she is running 2 different tests. 1 to see if she is early, and one to see if she is over 100 days. The results will be back Wednesday or Thursday.
Saffy was an absolute diamond, she barely flinched when she took blood! Took it all in her stride. Truly one in a million!!! Love her so much.
Now for the wait!!! Excited, nervous, and a little bit scared!!
Thanks for all you support, it means the world xx

Well, all I can say is that the vet isn't very knowledgeable about mares and stallions!

Hi foxhunter can I ask why you say that?
I'm not going to start defending my vet, I only met here once!! But do you think she missed something or isn't advising me or something. This little one means the world to me, so I really want to make sure she is looked after xx

To say she is unlikely to be in foal because of the way she was kept with the stallion shows she doesn't understand that many mares do not show when they are in season and the fact she didn't show a season most of the summer.

Secondly she could have manually tested to feel for the foal. The fact she is a Shetland doesn't mean she is to small to PD.

Have the mare stand square and then look at her from behind, see if her belly is even both sides or more protruding on one.
If she never had a season from early last summer then she will probably be showing and as a foal grows in one horn it protrudes more that side than the other.

I am not running your vet down just surprised at her thinking. I could well be wrong I've only seen the pictures you posted and just going by the history.

I have been in the foaling business for many years and have met many vets who do not deal with a lot of stud work and they can so often be wrong.

She said 'likely', not 'unlikely', didn't she?

I do beg your pardon I misread (the joys of ageing and being to lazy to get my specs!)

Thanks foxhunter. I misread all the time!! I have looked a couple of times from behind, nuts it's weird as sometimes the right side seems bigger, then it's the left!?! The vet has said that the blood test may come back negative, but that doesn't mean she isn't. Right now I just want a yes or no, shame they can't just pee on a stick like we do lol. Life would be soooo much easier!
