These are small ponies - they were originally from an island where, if the wind is gale force it is a calm day!

They do not need a lot of extra food, that is one of the worse things you can do as it gets them to fat.

Good hay, and not to much of that, access to a mineral bucket is ample.

They live on fresh air.

Congratulation "Granny!"

Just keep on doing what you're doing.

I like a broodmare just a tad above "perfect", no more than a 6. With your mare you're probably at that already so unless she actually starts losing weight no need to make any changes. You don't want her too heavy either.

Thanks for your positivity. I will monitor her weight as the spring grass comes through. I stable my gelding from spring onwards to watch his weight. Usually at night in the folder spring months, then during the day in the height of summer. So will probably do the same with her. They have decent quality hay when in the stable. I have a very large field with really good grass, so don't want to risk issues with laminitis and weight x

Yeah I'd be more concerned with too much than too little.

If you have a "sacrifice area" (let them eat it down to a dry lot) it would be better than stabling. A grazing muzzle can do the trick as well.

Thanks yogi. Unfortunately the farmer I rent from doesn't want me to section off the field, as the horses leave fine by the fencing and can ruin the drainage. The grazing muzzle is a good idea, will have a look at those
