New to english, needing gear!! HELP!

I just switched over from western to english to train for Polo, I have been wearing just knee pad riding breeches as that's all i can find in my size, i'm child sized but adult height needing XS. I just wondered what helmet would be best that I could use for both english and polo, also what pants come small and preferably under 75$ if possible? all this new gear is pricey.. Should I be buying full seat?
I've thought of making my own but its been forever since i had my machine out and wouldn't even know what fabrics to use.

I'm not a lot of help, but endurance folks tend to use Danskin pants and sew on knee patches.
For a helmet, I got a really nice Ovation from Dover for $40 on sale. It's comfortable and not horribly hot (I tend to overheat and sweat a lot).

I once found nice full seats at a tack swap. I bought 3 pairs. Also try eBay.

for Polo you will NOT want full seat. I don't think. you want to be able to freely reposition yourself, and full seat tend to be more for riding where you will be seated the whole time.

real leather patches work so much better. if you've got some tights, you could have a leather worker sew on the leather patch for you, though it might not be any cheaper than buying real leather knee patch breeches.

thanks so much!

the english world is so much more complex than the western! This really helps narrow me in on what i need!

Where is a good place to buy just the leather patches?

Lafry, can you ask help from the polo instructor and other club members near you? What about a tack consignment shop? eBay? Craigslist?

As far as the patches, just use Google :) I bet lots of sources will come up when you type in "leather patches for riding breeches."

Have fun. Polo isn't a cheap sport, since it requires a few horses and all the tack and trailer and other paraphernalia, but it is a great sport. Enjoy!

I'd probably just talk to some people who play polo and ask what they use.

Get the one that fits you best . . . and be sure to have it setting right on top of your head and covering your forehead.

Just go to Dover or a local tack shop. Dover has a huge selection, and some are under $75. I don't know how it is with polo. I'm talking about regular riding pants. I personally like IRH. The ATH is my favorite

Ebay is also a great place to find less expensive horse and rider stuff if you know what you want.
