The New Kid

Of course, by "kid", I mean thirty-mumble and by "new" I mean slightly obsessed with horses since I could walk, but come from a not particularly well-off family, so the best I could manage growing up was yearly scout camp. But whatever.

I've finally found an instructor in my area that I get on with, and started lessons and I couldn't be happier, but man, do I need some horsie friends to talk to before my family tries to stage an intervention. I'm a western rider, who's not quite managed to pick any one discipline; trail classes looks fun as heck, but then again, so does everything else (and honestly, for now I'm just happy to be riding instead of being a sack of potatoes in a saddle).

And just for the fun of it: we're all of us taking part in a little walk/trot fun show on Halloween, and we've been tasked with starting a show grooming kit, and beyond the obvious, I have no idea what's supposed to go in it. Suggestions would be awesome, pretty please.

Hello and welcome to the forum!

For your grooming kit a little spray bottle of mane detangler and show sheen are two things that come to mind.

Hello and welcome! A couple of clean rags would be nice in your kit. I find myself having to wipe down a lot of things at shows.

Welcome welcome. :)
You could always put in some fly spray, definitely the showsheen, & some extra little braiding hair ties (the tiny ones)!

Ride more, worry less.
