Congratulations for managing your fear. As time goes on and no crazy events happen you'll figure out you can do this! Horses are so rewarding. Good for you for giving it another shot. Everyone should do what they love, whether they are experts at it before they start or not.

I love reading these. Congrats and keep on riding!

I also suffer with anxiety which interferes with my riding but the more you ride the less you will worry and feel anxious. For me I still get worked up over doing new things with my horses but then calm down after a bit. I've learned that's just who I am as a person and it's not going to really ever change.

This past weekend I hauled one of my horses to a trail ride.. I haven't been out on a trail in about 4 years and same with my horse. I did get a little worked up but nothing horrible and was able to calm down on my own quickly.

I tell myself it's okay to get nervous but I must know how calm myself and relax and then all will be good.

I got my first horse in March (I'm an older novice) and the first three weeks I was having such terrible anxiety attacks that I nearly lost mu lunch on my mares neck once. I had to get off quite a few times after 5 minutes of walking with my instructor leading her. Trotting was out of question. Then one day I just clicked and did a full lesson with trotting, cantering and ground pole work without even a single second of fear. Just the day before I had to get off after 5 minutes. I have no idea how that happened but I'm eternally grateful to my instructor for putting up with me. We are now doing great.

Good for you for persevering through fear, I know how bad it can get.
