New Tack help Advice Please

I was curious if I could get advice in tack. I just baught myself a breast collar and tie down. Now I haven't used a breast collar in a long while. But I wanna make sure I'm correct or not on this. Is the bottom strap that attaches to the chinch suppose to be against the chest or hanging? And I've never used a tie down so I'm not sure how tight its supposed to be or not. Any advice helps.

In photos is breast collar on hunter. And my tie down and breast collar.

It is supposed to be fairly loose but not hanging low enough to interfere with his legs. I wouldn't use the tie down if it was me. I think you are supposed to be able to get a fist in between the breast collar and the chest.

It all looks rather odd to me.

I would say that you np have the tie down the wrong way round as there is nothing on the noseband to put the clip on. If this is the case then the piece that goes between the legs looks short and also is attached by a clip. How do you do that on a girth/cinch?
Usually the martingale attachments fit directly onto the metal 'O'

I can't see the ends of the other two straps to see what attachment they have.

The breast collar is hanging a bit low, to remedy this you can, make what is called a wither strap tie a piece of leather or para-cord from rings that the tugs are on over to the other side and tie it. The breast collar ought to sit over the shoulder so as not to impede movement of the shoulder.

As far as the tie down, it does not go on the breast collar. When used properly the tie down attaches to the girth, with a snap, goes through the d-ring on the chest plate and attaches to a nose-band. If the snap will not fit through the d-ring then you can tie a piece of leather or para-cord to the ring and run the tie-down through that. That said why are you using a tie-down?
