There won't be a big crowd, just the parents haha. Atleast I won't be scared and it's not far away!
Excellent plan!

I thought so! It was my neighbors idea since she knows I don't like full on things, atleast this will be nice and calm. We might even go for a hack down the road together.

Oh brother! The pressure people think they have a right to put onto others. grr.
I have dogs. No one questions my reason for having them even though I don't "show" them. I also have chickens and a cats. Again, never questioned about why I have them if I don't show them. Does anyone ever bother to ask your horse if he/she is bothered because you don't take him/her to shows? Do you suppose the other horses in the barn snigger at the poor thing because he/she never does a show? NO!
Love your horse, care for your horse. Happy you-Happy horse!
Tell those other clowns to go ...well, the censors won't let me type that but you get the point.
Horses weren't made for shows. Shows were made for people.

It's perfectly fine to not want to do competitions. I don't, mostly because I ride in a rope halter and it's not allowed in the arena. :( But it's not a need really. I think as long as your enjoying your horse and bonding with him/her, your not missing out on a thing.

I enjoy barrel racing, however, one of my other horses and I only trail ride. Cheyenne and I just lope on flat trails, work liberty, and just play around. We do tricks, she loves to be groomed, and I love to groom her.

She hates shows, but loves a good pasture or trail ride. She loves to be around me, as do I love to be around her. We just hang out together, and enjoy each other's presence. I have a feeling that's how you are.

I started barrel racing, and I was so scared. Now I love it. But on weekdays, I just hang out with my horses. That's a better reward than any show can give you, IMO.

Maybe go to a show and enter for fun, not to win. If you mess up, nobody cares! If you decide you don't like it, do what me and Cheyenne did. DON'T DO IT:) Me and my Cheyenne just love each other and doing trail rides, so that's what we do.

My gelding and I love barrel racing together, so that's what we do.

Do what make you and your horse happy:)

Good luck, and have fun!:)
