While I 100% agree with this - I also want to add that your dad will probably be more interested in your safety as well. It'd be in your interest to ensure him that the instructors will not put you on a horse past your experience level and it will always be a horse that you can handle and will be safe on (but of course accidents always happen)

Don't mind the breed. Red Quarter Horses are the best, actually, but I just told you the breed doesn't matter.

When youre picking out a barn to ride at and a trainer to use just ask around a little and make sure these people check out..Most important is your how you feel about your safety and this could be hard to judge with a lack of experience. Start by watching Youtube videos to make sure you are up for the rough sport.

Convincing your dad will be the art of managing money.. If you can figure out how to get riding clothes you will make your case strong and the continuation of chores would be the selling point.

Horses are the ultimate learning experience. Don't let your dad hold you back.
