Saddle help!

I'm selling a saddle and I haven't been able to find out much about it. I know its a western pleasure show saddle. How much do you guys on here think it's worth? Originally (she gave the saddle to me) a friend of mine got it from a saddle shop known for very low prices on all their saddles. This one was sold to my friend for $150. The saddle has sterling silver on it, is missing a few saddle strings on one side of the back of the saddle. It has a few rubs on it.you can see a tiny bit of plastic on one of the stirrups insides, (I don't know if I should put that about my stirrup on the ad?) But other then that it's in perfect shape. The only information I was able to find in the saddle was a name by Horseman's Corral, Mondesto California. But I couldn't find anything about the makers of the saddle when I googled it. Its also a wood tree saddle, A frame, and 15 inch seat. What do you guys think I should sale it for? Any information on the saddle is a huge help too! Thanks
-Daisey

I think you would be doing good to get 100 for it.

That is a 12 inch seat, what the call a Child's Pony Saddle, although the rarely fit very many Ponies....lol.....

100.00 would be about the most anyone would ever pay for it, more likely 75.00

Why?, that is all it is worth, sorry.

.

May all your Trails be happy and safe ones

Thanks I didn't know much about it and wanted to sale it but wasn't sure what to sale for. I'm surprised I fit into a pony seat. Lol maybe I have to re measure my Saddle I ride in.

For one thing, you can google "measuring a western saddle" for the correct way to get the seat size. Many people use the wrong points to measure from and the saddle is actually much smaller than they claim

Looks like about a 14" seat to me, but it's hard to tell because the tape is angled. If you place an ad online, be sure you show the tape measuring the seat and the gullet correctly. A lot of buyers will skip over ads that don't have the info they want. Google can show you how to measure it.

Counts the marks on the Tape, it is 12"

2nd the number on the Latigo Carrier is 412, most likely the manufactures # 4 model with the 12 being the seat size, many manufactures use that type of marking on the Latigo Carrier.

American Made Pony Saddles sell New for 350.00 to 400.00

Imports sell for 150.00 to 300.00

Judging by the age and the fact the Company who made it cannot be found, tends to tell me it is well over 10 years old and sold new for maybe 200.00 to 250.00 back then.

Seeing it is also not a high quality saddle and possible and import as it has some of the tell tale signs, is why the 100.00 used valuation.

No Offense meant to the OP, older Saddles especially those smaller than a 15" seat, just do not hold their value very well.

Reads a 14" seat to me, the tape has to start on the saddle behind the horn, not at the very front of the saddle. you need to measure the part where your body sits, not the part in front or behind.

A 14" is still pretty small, a teen or small person would fit well, probably not an adult (unless very small).

Depending on where you live, it could be worth $150 to $250 - just takes the right person who wants a pretty saddle for themself or kid. Also, I doubt that the silver is sterling, unless you take some off and look for the markings. If you haven't needed to polish it, it probably isn't silver.

Yes, take pics of all parts that aren't perfect, take pictures of the inside of the stirrup leathers showing the hardware for raising and lowering the stirrups, and post the pictures showing gullet size and seat size, but change your measuring tape to show the actual seat size. I had to count the inches and subtract 4 (the part you measured in front of the seat). Make it easy for potential buyers.

Good luck!
