Size of cinch for Pony?

Alright, so I found a saddle for my 10hh pony, but unfortunately the cinch it came with was way too big for her. What size of cinch would you get for a 10hh pony? Is 20" good? I have never had my own pony, just horses...haha

I believe my 11.3 goes in a 20" and even that is maybe a bit too big.

I'm assuming you're riding Western? If you're riding English, then consider getting a dressage girth, as they come in very short sizes.

Depends on what saddle you are using.

I would tie a string where you want it and measure. (I usually like it on 2/3 for an English saddle unless I know the horse is a bloater).

Then get a girth and make sure it's returnable if it doesn't fit.

I wouldn't use a dressage girth for a hunt saddle.

At 10hh she's basically a big mini, so make sure the saddle fits and the rider is not too heavy. Most horses that size aren't built for weight.

I use a western. The saddle is fine on her, the cinch was just made big enough it could fit my 15hh paint mare, haha. So was the breastcollar. Seems like the company was only concerned about making the saddle the right size...

Still think the measuring a string will give you a general idea.

Was the saddle advertised as a "Kid's saddle" or a "Pony saddle". If it was supposed to be a kid sized saddle then that's probably why the cinch and breast collar were bigger- it's for a horse it's just the seat size for a kid. If it was advertised as a pony saddle then I would assume it would come with smaller sized girth and cinch. But even if it had, it might not fit a 10hh pony.

It was advertised as both. The saddle itself I think fits her pretty well. Not the perfect fit but good enough it doesn't hurt her or cause any problems.
