It does look a bit big.
I do have a size bigger on Honey because I use the Kineton noseband on her but if I didn't I would go down that 1/4 inch
Does your horse have a shorter than average mouth or is it just how it looks?

Just winging it is not a plan

They are supposed to fit a little big but agree that looks a little off. Of course you may decide the other is too small. Tricky!

Better too big than too small though.

Hope he's feeling better soon!
