is it too late to start barrel racing?

I am 16 turning 17 this summer. I had horses all growing up, but things happened and we got rid of them. we had one that was a barrel horse passed down from a friend, and I was planning to start on her, but we got rid of them before it could happen. I miss riding and horses in general. but everytime I go to a rodeo, or see girls racing I get sad.. just like I wish it was me, and I get frustrated because I feel like I can't be there now? so is it too late? how would I learn? would I have to teach a new horse how to do it? how do you practice, do you have to buy barrels and make a practice arena? I need all these answered before I ask my parents if I could start.

If you have the desire there is always a way....

Start by taking lessons...
Find a barn and instructor....
This is no different than any other sport, you need someone to teach and educate you.
Lesson horses that know what they are doing, will only do what you can safely handle and will do more as you know more...
Start small, experience it first and know you love it.
Then if it is right for you....then you start the preparations.
By the time you need those things you ask questions about, you will know where to purchase, the sizes needed and the expenses to bear...

Starts with taking lessons.....

Enjoy your new hobby...

Goodness no, it's not too late. I started taking English lessons when I turned 40. Ditto, take lessons.
