Also you could buy a cheap little 2H trailer in the 500-1000 range. That's what I did when I turned fifteen and got my permit - Still have that little thing, if I'm just going to a show by myself there's no reason to haul the big trailer out for one or two horses. Plus, they're light, and can be pulled behind everything. I had a tiny little chevy s10 half ton and it had no issues stopping and pulled it loaded with two horses and tack up steep hills like a champ.

I trailer to a neighboring farm for lessons because it's worth it to me; I board at a H/J barn but ride Dressage; the instructor at the other barn is certified through 4th level and is absolutely the best instructor I've ever had; it costs me $50 to trailer my horse over there, plus $65 for the lesson, plus I have to take half day off from work; but it's totally worth it.
