Training Tips

Hey guys! I'm 13 and I'm helping to train a horse at the stable where I ride and I was wondering if you had any tips for training a green 7 year old miniature pony. She's very sweet, but was a carousel pony so she doesn't have much experience with real English riders.

Yes. I'm the only one small enough to ride her.

she can carry a 13 year old?! most minis shouldn't carry more than about 40 lbs.

I'm SUPER small for my age?! Shes pretty big for her breed and the vet said she could carry a lot when the barn owner bought her. She will only end up being used for the little kids so there is no danger of anyone weighing more than 80 lbs. riding her.

Minis are not bred to be ridden at all, sorry. But is there a picture in which her size can be seen easily?

I agree that minis should not be ridden. they can't take the weight on their backs the same way full size horses and ponies can.
