Western pleasure and barrels?

Can my ex barrel horse be a barrel racer and a western pleasure horse at the same time? She's being trained to slow down but knows to go fast in barrels. She is getting better at slowing down when I ask

I don't see why not...IF she is trained correctly.

There's a girl who I've known for a few years who shows her gelding in speed events (barrels and poles) and in western pleasure and equitation. However, this horse is broke to death, well-trained and was used as a ranch horse. You can literally do anything on this horse: swing a rope off him, cut, sort, do a reining pattern, trail ride, anything. Because he had the solid foundation put on him o begin with.

Do not tell me I can't...because I will show you that I can.

Depends at what level-open, sure, did it all the time at those local schooling type shows
I showed in reining to English to western events, including games at those types of shows-at any upper end or breed level? Not likly.

It depends on how much time and commitment you are going to put into it. Your horse can do it, the question is at what competitive level. Are you interested in just competing or is winning the thing?
