Not sure how big your paddocks are, but once they're bigger than about an acre or so, we just drag them the break up and spread the manure.

The thing about manure is to make a proper muck heap. To just empty barrow loads without stacking it does not help the muck to break down and compost well and, spreads out taking a lot of room.
Build the heap into a square or rectangle, keeping the sides straight and it is surprising just how much you can stack.

You can bag it and sell it or, get some local children to do so. I do know of some children that bagged the muck at their father's race yard, they had little trailers that fitted on the back of their bikes and delivered it locally. They made quite a lot of money.

When the biting insects arrive I build a smudge in a 45 gal. barrel on a calm evening, mixed with old hay, dry grass, etc . It will smoke and drive off the mosquitoes. Being a cold smoke it will rise maybe 20' then settle back down. Surprisingly the smoke doesn't stink, no odor at all. The ashes are excellent for spreading on the lawn, pasture or garden.

Captain Evil and dlady like this.
