Last Dance for Logan

First, the background. I've had two ferrets, Logan and Lil' Miss Rogue, since 2003. Last year, Rogue was having seizures and had to be put down...her adrenal disease had progressed too far. It was inoperable, because it grew into the big vein running down the center of her body. By this time, Logan had already had one pancreatic surgery, to remove insulin gland cancer.

About six months ago, he underwent surgery again to remove a sweat gland tumor around his...sheath. Some complication arose, and he had to go back in because of infection...he had his sheath removed and now urinates where a girl ferret does. He seemed to take it all okay, and I had hoped the worst was over.

He went in a couple days ago for his routine shots. We found another tumor on his lower belly, probably another sweat gland tumor. He's also starting to show the muscle wasting of advanced adrenal, and his lymphs in his neck are swelling, pointing towards lymphoma.

I've been expecting this since I lost Rogue...they were older, Logan turns 7 at the end of March, and ferrets generally only live 8-10's still hard to swallow. I'm going to have a sweat gland tumor removed, because it's just under the skin, for his comfort...and then just do what I can to continue to make him comfortable. He's my little man (Hoover is my big man ) and I would drain my savings if I thought it would help him...but I think it's just his time...

"Sit tall in the saddle, hold your head up high. Keep your eyes fixed where the trail meets the sky. And live like you ain't afraid to die...don't be scared, jut enjoy the ride." - Chris LeDoux
