What a handsome fella!

He resembles my Catahoula/Pit Bull tha I rescued as a yearling. Sheldon is 5-1/2 years by now.

Pits are great dogs. We currently have 3 (and a German shepherd). They are so sweet, loving, and some are extremely intelligent. Do be sure to socialize your adorable pup, with people and animals. You'll both be rewarded for it.

We think Axel is mostly if not totally Pit, but I've always wondered if he has a little bit of hound dog in his background. It's the ears... and that one time he cornered a Opossum underneath the shed and bayed at it for nearly an hour.

I love Catahoula's as well! Gorgeous dogs, but from what I've read and heard about them, they aren't for the faint of heart!

Axel is a very good boy! He's my only Pit at the moment, but he lives with a Jack Russel and Jack Russel/Dashhund cross and the three of them certainly help make my life interesting! I'd definitely adopt a Pit again and that's what I plan to do once my little dogs pass on.

Axel just had his seventh birthday actually, lol so it's a little late for puppy socialization. I took him everywhere with me when he was a puppy, but he's always been a shy, nervous sort of dog. Very anxious, even from the time he was a puppy! I remember meeting him for the first time, poor baby trembled in my arms! That's probably why he was one of the last puppies in his litter to be adopted.

He's always been happiest at home and I respect that, so he doesn't go out with me very often anymore. But he's a joy to have around the house and he's for the most part well-mannered with the other dogs and guests. Just takes him a little time to warm up.
