does my saddle fit?

Hey everyone, I’ve been trying to find the right pad to go with my barrel saddle. The last time I posted on here a few people told me my saddle was a bit too wide, so I tried a countoured pad I won a few years ago. I thought it fit great, and she felt great during our ride, but her sweat marks weren’t the best. They weren’t too bad but I noticed they were a little bit dry towards the withers, and on one side she had a quarter sized dry spot. (Keep in mind she doesn’t sweat on her spine because of white spots from her previous owner) I was looking back at the pictures, and the side that has the dry spot, the saddle doesn’t seem to be as close to the pad but the pad was never broken in so maybe the saddle will mold to it eventually? What’s everyone’s opinions on the fit and sweat marks (picture below)

Cant tell anything about the pad from those pics. If you're trying to make a too wide saddle fit with padding, using a pad with 'shims' *may* be adequate in the short term, until you find a better fitting one.

Appears your saddle is a fair bit too far forward. It should be well clear of the rear of the scapula - by a couple of inches *at least*. That may cause the back of it to interfere with her hips tho - looks like the skirt barely clears them as is.

Sweat marks are one thing that can give you an idea about 'pressure points' etc but they're not reliable. I am concerned however about the 'doesn't sweat on her spine' comment - there should be NO pressure whatsoever on her spine, or a couple of inches either side. If saddle is putting ANY pressure on/close to spine, you need to stop this. Again, maybe shims will do in the short term.

Some info I've found helpful; [COLOR=Lime][B]

photos with the saddle on without a pad are needed. That horse has a very challenging back shape to fit, my feeling is that it's probably about as good as your are going to get. if she is not sore at all after a few rides, I'd call that fine.
