We are utilizing the deep litter method for our horses. Their stalls are 12x24, we have sectioned off 12x12 with wood planks that are 1ft tall to hold in the deep bedding. We have stall mats on the bottom and shavings on top. The other half of their stall is filled with sand and luckily this is...

My horse is in a mare motel with a run. He has shredded all his stall mats and the vet thinks he is sleep deprived because he is refusing to sleep on the hard ground which is resulting in him falling and cutting his front fetlocks. I am purchasing new stall mats and shavings for the covered...

How many bags of bedding should you put in a 12x12 stall? If I use 40lb Pine Pellet Stall Bedding (from tractor supply if anyone was wondering) how many bags would I have to use for a 12' x 12' stall (with horse mats)? Also, do you think horse mats are worth it? Thanks!! :) God bless.

I am looking for a new manure fork, Is there one you have used that stands out from the others? My main problem is that cleaning my stalls kills my back.

I currently have my gelding stalled at a barn. He is very comfortable and happy in his stall. However, he destroys it. He pees so much that I almost have to strip his stall every other day. I'm currently using medium flake shavings. What should I do??? I can't afford to be burning through...

Hi there, I am on the verge of purchasing some horse stall mats and I am looking to get a bit of insight. I just moved to a horse property that has three very odd-shaped stalls, so I am having to order custom mats. I have gotten multiple quotes, with the most economically friendly from Linear...

I am moving my horses to a new barn at the end of the month...well, in 3 days. Very last minute but it's a good opportunity for me. My horses will have constant turn out with the option of going into the barn. Inside the barn are 2 stalls set up primarily for feeding and getting in from the...

Dust in shavings beds has always been a problem. People buy expensive shavings. Being told they are dust free. Do you believe it ? Nor do I. Here is the solution. Read the last few paragraphs if you are in a hurry. It will give you enough information to...

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum. I purchased a miniature horse for my son's 2nd birthday (back in September) and he lives right in our backyard (we have almost 2 acres fenced). I built him a lean-to so he could get out of the rain, but instead he goes under our deck and still gets wet! He...

Looking for other people's thoughts about these "mattresses" for future reference in a barn project. Has anyone used them? Good outcome? Bad outcome? Any ideas on how much they cost per stall? I intent to contact a dealer for more information as my project progresses, however for the moment I am...

Hey there- We are getting ready to finish the flooring in our stalls (yay!). Instead of just a dirt floor, we plan to use 4 inches of a fine gravel topped with the heavy duty 6X4 rubber stall mats from TSC. Just curious- When using shavings, how thick should it be over rubber mats? We have...

What are you opinions and experiences with different bedding? I just recently attended a horse expo and saw a shredded recycled paper bedding. They said it was more absorbant than wood shaving and quicker to decompose. What about all the other options: straw, little shavings, large shavings, etc.
