  1. Horse Riding & Horse Activity
Hi everyone! So, around six weeks ago, I had my first, fairly bad fall off my horse which resulted in a cracked rib along with a lingering pain in the shoulder area. Throughout those six weeks of recovery, I couldn't wait until I got back onto my horse so I could continue on with...
  2. Horse Jobs
Hello! I just started a job at a horse barn. Right now I only work for an hour and a half Saturday and Sunday for $9/hour. How much do you think I would need to work to pay for a lesson or two a week? Also, when should I bring up to my new boss if she would be willing to exchange lessons...
  3. Member Journals
Hello! Well, I've seen a lot of people doing these journals and I thought they're actually a really neat idea! I'll be able to track my progress and look back to see how far I've come. And hey, if anyone's interested they can tag along as well! Feel free to offer your advice or opinions; there's...
  4. English Riding
My mare is an 18-year-old who I bought about a year and a half ago, very well-behaved and generally quiet but willing to work. She has been used for hunt chase by her previous owners and I'm pretty sure she's done hunt chase most of her life based on her behaviour. She's an angel at walk and...
  5. English Riding
I love it! I had never heard of No Stirrup November, but I love it! I think it's a good challenge for anyone to take on and has great outcome regardless of how much you do of it. Im taking the challenge on!
  6. Horse Riding Critique
Hey can some of you look at this and give me ideas as to whats wrong with my stirrups/legs etc? It may be right but it looks wrong to me and I'm finding it hard to rise at the trot. Any ideas welcome thank you :) (Note the horse is going up a small hill in the photo)
  7. Horse Riding & Horse Activity
I've been riding for a while now, and have tried a bunch of sports bras now. None really fit properly nor keep everything in place. I've heard that riding vests are supposed to help with this issue but I'm not too sure...advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks! :)
  8. English Riding
I've just started riding on a new horse, he is very sensitive on the bit, however he doesn't always respond to my leg very well. He often pushes against the pressure I apply, and simply refuses to listen. If anyone has any advice or suggestions it would be greatly appreciated! :D
  9. English Riding
Alrighty, it has been a while since I posted anything XD But here's what's up.. So I've been wanting to do cross country for a year or so now but I can't do it. I've got a green horse who's fat and lazy. I know, I know... "Use him" "break him" "he's rideable" blah blah blah. The last time I...
  10. Dressage
So I would like to start eventing. My horse and I can jump, but we have never done dressage. I don't know where to start! There is a show next year in the summer of 2016 in which I would like to attend. What does the judge look for in the horse and rider? What class should I enter (training...
  11. Horse Tack and Equipment
Hi. I have been riding about 3 years, and about 8 months ago, I started getting into jumping. I was looking at tack, and found breasts plates and martingales. I always thought breast plates were used to control the horse's head when jumping. But, I saw a martingale does the same thing. Can...
  12. English Riding
Hello! I have been riding hunt seat for three years and am just now starting to learn to sit the trot. The delay is because I had been riding a very bouncy, jaunty, uncomfortable OTTB (in my avatar and my "barn") and was just concentrating on different aspects of riding. Now that I've switched...
  13. Horse Videos
sorry about the flood of posts from me -.- From now on links to my videos will be uploaded in this thread :D subscribe to this thread to keep up to date with new vids :D
  14. Teen Talk
My mother is terrified of letting me ride English. She seems to think that riding western is safer because of the horn, and on an English saddle, there's nothing to hold on to. I know that you are NOT supposed to hold onto the horn as it unbalances your seat, and I tried telling her that riders...
  15. English Riding
Hi! I am looking for a new pair of English riding boots and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what boots they like, or what not to get from experience. I will use them mainly in jumping, but also in regular Hunter under saddle events and so on, and I need them to be spur-friendly...
  16. Western Riding
Strange, according to how I was trained to ride as a youth in 4-H. I was taught to hold both reins in my left hand, my right hand on my thigh. We were to sit in a relaxed but straight position, allowing the hips to rock gently in unison with the horse's movements. I returned to riding in...
  17. English Riding
Me and my horse are looking to show (well I am, but my horse is looking fabulous so I wanna show him off, duh). What I want to know is, what classes should we do that are flat classes? A good open show class to show off my horse and me. (My eq, his looks) Help?
  18. English Riding
Hi Everyone! I am pretty new to riding (see my other thread), and I have a question. What is the advantage/disadvantage of leather vs. non-leather saddles? I am starting to learn more about different types of saddles for general purpose English riding (no specific to dressage or hunter). Is...
  19. English Riding
Hey there. I was wondering if you guys had any tips or tricks for riding English? I can w/t/c and do some low jumps but I'm always looking to improve my equitation ect. so I figured that this could be a thread for any tips you have.
  20. New to Horses
Hi everyone, I'm picking up English riding after about a 12 year hiatus...in my late 20s now. I don't have a lot of horsey friends and I've already asked my trainer a million dumb questions so here I am! I just don't know how to dress myself for riding these days! I need help buying riding...
