A horse I rode recently much preferred long, loose reins. He kept tossing his head and fidgeting when I tried to shorten the reins. Having long reins made it more difficult for me to steer. Is there a way that I could get the horse to allow shorter reins?
I currently have a hobby business of making paracord reins, halters, dog leashes, etc. I recently had a customer asking me about mecates, which I have never made. As I was researching paracord mecates, I came across a lot of stuff relating back mohair. Is it worth pursuing? If I started...
Okay, I have a question. I had a riding lesson for the first time in about 3 years (I've done lessons on and off for almost 20 years now) and something came up that I guess I've just never heard before.
Right now I'm still in Western and my instructor informed me to always keep my reins in the...
Today my reins snapped (long story don't ask). They were rubber grip reins because my mare is rather strong! I would like to get good quality reins online but I've no idea where to get them. Please help me asap because I'm only really bringing her back into riding now.
Hello! I am looking to find laced reins with no animal derived components ( either synthetic leather or cloth material ). I have attached pictures of what I would like, I just can't seem to find any that are not leather!
Thanks for any help!!!
Does anybody know the name of those tubes that people thread the reins through to supposedly help keep ponies (I guess you could use them on horses, I've only seen ponies) straight? I was thinking they're called something like "straightlines" but I can't seem to find them online. I'm doing a...
So, like the title says, can I?

So what kind of...
I have been trained in dressage for the entirety of my riding life. However, I train with school horses not my own personal horse. He is not trained in dressage and I don't really want him to be, so I mainly just hack around, and have fun with him. Often times I dabble in western with him...

Hey everyone, I'm a beginner pretty much, just starting to master the trot, and well, the barn I usually ride at, the instructor taught me different to the barn I went to yesterday - they told me everything I knew before was wrong.
Okay so, at my first barn, the instructor told me to tighten my...
I am in Drill Team with my LBE horse. She is pretty good stopping in the barn at my arena and i ride with a few other people. However once she is in the huge arena at the fairgrounds with all of the other horses, she becomes almost uncontrollable using two reins and I have to do a one rein stop...
