Trying to Update IE9

I am trying to update IE9 to IE11 since websites have been putting up notices of not supporting IE9 anymore.

Problem is IE11 downloads, and installs right up to the very end then fails.
same problem with trying to update to IE10. I have downloaded all of microsofts critical and other updates for windows 7.

Erorr 9C59. well that is not on any microsoft help or support page. Went to the Microsoft forum. Tried some of the suggestions found there and that caused me to have to use System Restore.

I am running windows 7 home OS. Now I have been offered Windows 10 for free from microsoft. It is a makeover of windows 8 which inho should have been junked.

So any thoughts on what might be hampering my installing IE11.

By any chance are you running Spybot search and destroy or other malware software?

It appears you're not the only one that's had the issue as a google search returns a lot of things to try.....

Heck, I surf with fire fox.....and run the ad block plus add-on and a no script add on with it....

I've got a couple of windows 10 machines setup and running......including this one that I'm posting from, which is a virtual machine.....yet I'm still on firefox...

neither spybot or other malware software.

I have McAfee and windows defender and use both regularly, plus the malicus spyware from microsoft every month. I have done all of windows trouble shooters with no results .

windows update will download and install right up to the very end , then it fails and says it is a 9c59 error. then when I check on that I get an
Ox80070490 (2015-9-13T 09_59_41A) And I have tried microsoft fixes for that error code with no results.

Downloading IE 10 results in the same errors.

I am thinking the problem might be in the registery, something corrupt or missing.

Going to look and see if I can find a program to check and fix the registery.

I also think microsoft might be doing something also because I read an article that says microsoft is not happy that few are downloading the free Windows 10. And that Windows 10 is full of sypware that collects data and other stuff and then sends it to microsoft. Since everybody is not switching to Window 10 from Win 7 or win 8 they are putting some of the parts that spy on you in the windows Updates for 7, 8, 8.1 . The updates are KB3075249 and KB308149. IE11 is what comes with windows 10.

I checked and those updates were on my computer, so I deleted them and nothing happened that was funny or anything. but it still didn't solve the problem.

i have been to the two microsoft sites with no luck , and to tell the truth I am afraid of downloading anything now. Spent 3 hrs last night getting rid of a blue screen that happened after a restart after deleting text files for IE 10 and IE11 and deleting temp files for windows update.

So now I am of the opinion that I will have to wipe and reinstall windows 7 or
just take the free offer from microsoft for windows 10 and then try to find and turn off all the spyware or delete it. But I like win. 7 .

I did not do anything with the registary as far as finding a repair program. There were to many negitive opinions on even messing with the registery

I had Windows 8.1 on a laptop, took the Free offer for windows 10, it is slower, but does have some of Windows 7 Features which is nice.

My Desktop will be upgraded to windows 7 form XP...... I think windows 7 is better than 10 ... for what I use a computer for that is...

there is a website that tells you what to turn off in windows 10 that will prevent microsoft from tracking you and collecting data from your programs and files. It all is sent to microsoft and yet they say they are a big privacy fan.

Microsoft Forces Windows 10 "Upgrade" Even When Users Refuse It

Microsoft Forces Windows 10 "Upgrade" Even When Users Refuse It

As The New American reported previously, "Many of the new features and settings of Windows 10 have been deemed spyware by computer security experts." In fact, according to the Microsoft Services Agreement and its accompanying documents to which one must agree in order to use any Microsoft products or services the software giant of Redmond, Washington, is allowed unhindered access to view, save, and share any data stored on or accessed using any computer running Microsoft Windows. As we wrote in that article:

To install the Windows 10 upgrade, users must agree to the Microsoft Services Agreement and its accompanying documents. Few will ever read the terms of these documents since they span some 40,000 words and would run 110 pages if printed. As is to be expected, most of the terms are written in legalese and are not overly easy to understand. There are some parts of the terms that users need to be aware of, though, because agreeing to them grants Microsoft the right to read, save, and share anything stored on or accessed using any computer running Microsoft Windows as well as any computer using Microsoft products or services.

Are you downloading with Google or Google Chrome? There is a difference and Chrome is the better search engine.
