I have been lurking around this thread for a while but I didn't have a horse so I didn't sign up until today.

Well, this saturday I bought a horse. He is a 7 year old gelding. A plain jane bay. I wanted a horse that could go western pleasure and possibly hunter under saddle. I don't really show but I love how these horses move, their conformation, and personalities.

I was looking for a little less than a year and I finally found one I wanted.
I hope I picked a good one. After years of training problem horses and starting horses I really wanted somthing that at least had the basics. I love training but I was out of horses for almost a year and I wanted somthing I could at least hop on and ride right away. This guy has the attitude of an old steady eddie but he w/j/l RIGHT off your leg. IMHO he has a pleasure of a mind. I'm just not sure about his conformation :lol:. He sat out in a feild on a TB breeding farm for over a year with little work and becuase PA had a tough winter with a lot of snow he really came through the winter hard. He was shaggy and shedding which didn't help but he was a little thin, or just lacking muscle and fat (which is good if he wasnt working anyway) but he was a dream to ride. I rode him w/j/l both directions and that was all I needed!

He doesnt come home until this weekend and I want to get him cleaned up and bathed before showing him off so all I have right now is his pedigree. Pictures to come though!

I thought I would be cool to get opinions on the pedigree then post the horse in a few days to see if your opinions change or stay the same!

ps. the horses name on the video is actually wrong. His name is spelt "Hidn from the Cops" not "Hidin from the Cops"

His barn name is Chopper, which I think I will keep!

Cute!! And congrats! I know I lurked here for a LONG time before I signed up!
He is cute, and sounds great. Is he western or english? Or do YOU do western or english? Because you say w/j/l instead of w/t/c makes me think western, but that vid confuses me!

What we really need is some good confo shots/stills of him.

Well, I ride both... but my preference is western pleasure.

He is only 15.2 which for the local stuff he could do either HUS or WP but for AQHA shows he would be a bit short for the hunter classes. However I have no real interest in showing at the moment, and likely wont do any breed shows.

He will w/j/l or w/t/c you just need a little more gas for the latter. He lopes smooth and slow but it isnt that exagerated old wp aqha show lope.

He is being ridin' in a hunter under saddle class becuase the girl who was leasing and riding him was into that. His owner seems to be into thoroughbreds and jumping/hus now but she bought him as a 2 year old for a AQHA Western Pleasure prospect. She took one of her horses very far in western pleasure (I want to say to worlds but I could be wrong so I won't :lol but then she decided compaining on the breed show circuit wasnt for her.

I was told he jumps, and jumps nice but he gets bored with it and the owner didn't think he wanted that as his 'calling'

Oh! I love him! Nice pedigree too! My friend has a HUS horse who is 15.2 and she went to the Youth World show a few years ago, so don't let his size stop you. Can't wait to see some pics!
