Day two was the busiest day of the event. We were at the corrals bright and early waiting for the riders to start rounding up the horses. While we waited horses came and went. I was using a three hundred and five hundred telephoto lens. I took quite a few pictures while hoping the wind would stop because it was a bit nippy.

I saw a Zonkey for the first time. She was friendly and kind of cute. She was in a herd with acouple mules and a shire or vanner cross paint. A big red roan was a friendly giant. He wanted nothing more than to be pet.

It was an hour or so later we saw the riders coming up from camp. The horses were getting anxious and were back and forth.

There were roads where you could back track and get back in front of the herd for the next intersection and photo op. After they went through the town Willow Creek we had to get back up on the highway and circle back to Three Forks. Once we got there we had to wait for them. I took a few pictures while in town but then decided I would go wait near the over night corrals to get pictures of them running the herd in.

The horses are used for dude/guest ranches and outfitters.

Alot are used in the yellowstone park area. Some are locals horses as well.

Interesting! Do you know if any of the outfitter's they go to are in Oregon? Some of the horses in part 2 looked really familiar to the horses that come to my camp, and I know they basically spend the winter out on the range somewhere... Random stuff! Haha
However, their brand looked different than the camp horses. The camp horses generally always (except for the white horses) have a hip number. So maybe not. Haha

The zorse had interesting facial marking. I haven't seen very many zorses, but I just assumed that they were "solid" except for the stripes. Really cool to see that photo.

Actually she is a Zonkey not a Zorse. She is a donkey and zebra cross not a horse and zebra cross. Either way she is pretty cute.
