This thread is quiet - hopefully everyone made it thru the heat, stifling humidity, and storms the last few days, and you’re out riding.

We dropped about 20 (F) degrees and the dewpoint went from 70-spmething to 50-something, so pretty nice out there.

Howeverrrrr—— that didn’t stop the horse flies from going after the horses. Joker was back in the barn by 10:00 AM, Rusty came in at 10:30, lol

Rusty enjoying the wind from his tub fan.

Joker — to give you an idea of how much air these 42” tub fans put out — please look at Joker’s mane and his tail, lollol

@QtrBel I looked at your poor baby bird again - I have to laugh but he probably doesn‘t see the humor, lollol

My Barn Swallows have fledged. Their mom did not waste anytime getting all five of their big selves out of the barn. She wasn’t putting up with any whining, as has always been the case in the last, lollol

Those kids are all huge, like their father, lol. They were out on bug maneuvers this AM, then spent some time on the electric wire - probably staring at the manure wagon.

Ok folks - someone besides me surely has something to say😄

1. Anyone who has TV and can get ABC. “When Nature Calls” is an animal comedy narrated by Helen Miren. She is funny anyway, so I’m looking forward to watching this tomorrow night (Thursday).

2. Words to live by and are pasted on my FEL so I never forget:

Yeah not much to say! Did get some rain and just came in from working in my garden, chickens joined me, said that was alright but stay away from my plants! I'm eyeing the 2 tomatoes that are getting bigger! Can't wait for my first tomato sandwich! Also I think I have lots of pepper plants hopefully they are jalapeno and bell and not habanero! Don't mind one of those but not a lot... too hot. But I make a good Mango habanero hot sauce.....

It was sooo nice yesterday but warm today. Work has been crazy so haven't been doing much with the ponies...

I did get some fresh picked blueberries from a friend and they are sooo good, made some blueberry muffins with them and turned out yummy.

@walkinthewalk -Those are some powerful fans! Captain would have that thing drug all over, he's so mischievous and likes to get in things. And I agree on the pic of the bird from @QtrBel, he's like whoa what was that about?? Too cute

That's all I have to say! lol

We had a thunderstorm Monday night, so it cooled off a little yesterday. Back to blazing hot today. Was supposed to leave for Iowa to visit my husband’s parents in the morning, but my son was admitted to the hospital again in the early hours of this morning, so I’m heading down to Houston to be with him instead.

Had all three geldings “read” by an animal communicator today. I know it’s not for everyone, but I always find it enlightening. Her relay of what Hombre had to say made me laugh out loud, which I greatly needed. Hope everyone else is doing well.

@ksbowman We also had a really nice Monday & Tuesday, and today was pretty good. Tomorrow is when the temps and humidity start climbing, each day.

Glad youre getting some quality riding time:)

@lb27312. DH is the diehard tomato eater. He gets a lot of tomatoes gifted to him at his workplace, lol

I have it in my head that you can’t plant hot peppers next to mild peppers because the hot peppers will somehow make the mild peppers hot — is that true?

Yes, those fans could blow a Mini into the next county, lollol. Joker is a good guy, he leaves stuff alone unless it’s the cat food - he loves cat kibble, lol

Rusty, however, is like your Captain and is into everything, lol

@Txshecat0423 Prayers and good wishes to your son🙏

I like hearing the horse communicator stories, if you want to share:). I never had it done because the person always wanted way too much money, lol

@walkinthewalk, I don’t mind sharing what she said. If people don’t believe in it and think it’s too “woo woo”, they can scroll past this post [emoji3] That should be enough fair warning LOL!

She read Henry first, and gave me a lot of really good information, which I needed on him.

When she said she was moving onto Hombre, she literally laughed out loud, and said did you know he is the King of the pasture?? She said he likes to run the other horses around, baring his teeth and pinning his ears and he used the word “treacherous” to describe himself. She related that he said I should have seen him in his heyday, that he was very fancy (his word) and he showed her ribbons on a bridle. She said he considers himself very studly. I asked about his vision in his left eye and the calcification in his left front ankle and she said his response was “Pssshhh, those are nothing”. She also said he showed her scenes of jumping small jumps and said he had been driven before. She said she had a hard time focusing on any physical ailments he might have because he just wanted to talk about himself….I was just rolling on the floor by this time because everything she said was absolutely spot on regarding his personality and attitude. What was even more hilarious is when we moved on to Skip, the first thing he relayed to her was “Hombre needs a job”….LOL!

I’ve had Skip read three different times and it has, in my opinion, enhanced our bond greatly. As a disclaimer, I will say about the only social media I post on is here and FB, and on FB I have my posts set to only friends being able to see them. I haven’t posted a lot about the boys anyway, but I guess she could have researched me some before the reading. I am sure there are those who might also say I inadvertently fed her information through the questions I asked. Could be, I guess, but I’ve never been disappointed in the information given, and felt that along with vet care, it only increased the level of knowledge I have of their physical and mental condition.

I like hearing the communicator stories, despite being a skeptic about most anything from the “beyond.” There’s something wonderful about the idea of getting to know our friends on a deeper level.

We woke up to weather feeling like fall this morning, which I feel bad saying to all the southerners 😆 It was a great day to ride. Hay is coming down steadily now. This fresh-cut field smelled wonderful as we rode by!

Things at work are finally slowing down, after a month of feeling really overwhelmed and working most weekends. I have three very big projects wrapping up on June 30th. I’ve actually been considering new jobs and am moving through the hiring process at a couple of different organizations. We’ll see if anything comes of it.

With things being a little less busy today, not only did I ride, but I got to take the dog out for a long walk in the woods. He loves to blow off steaming tearing around out there. I was a little nervous to let him run because there are lots of bears and deer on the move. But we didn’t see any wildlife.

@walkinthewalk , I have a mare that loves cat food too!

In other news we got our round bales delivered this week and will not have to worry about anyone starving to death this winter.

Hubs replaced my hayloft ladder and I told him the new one was was too modern for the barn decor. This is the old one, the new is made of fiberglass and aluminum.

Unfortunately, I've been working more often than not due to being very short staffed. Starting today, in the next eight days I'll have one day off. It's not going to get any better in the next few weeks and will only get worse.

The heat wave has finally broken and we've gotten some rain, not enough, but some is better than none. The weather people are predicting rain for the next week but I'll believe it when I see it.

@JCnGrace that ladder is a lot more safe looking than my grandfather's barn ladder ever looked.
