So, Uma has some huge blanket rubs on her shoulders. I'm talking baseball sized. None of my other horses have a problem with their blankets except for her. Interestingly enough, she's had her blankets for two years and this is the first time she's had rubs!

Now, before anyone asks, I tried Jammies. They made it worse! They went from nickle sized to baseball sized in a matter of weeks. Her blanket ( a medium weight Amigo) can't be taken off at this point because she will freeze her little draft butt off! So, is there anything at all I can do to prevent her from getting rubbed any more?! They look absolutely awful and it can't be comfortable :-(

any suggestions appreciated...

Get her a new blanket that fits better. It's possible that her shape changed due to a change in muscling, that's making the blanket fit differently then it used to when she first got it.

What kind of product did you use that made it worse? I'm not sure how a sleazy would make it worse, it's supposed to cling to the body. Maybe what you had was too big?

Perhaps her body shape has changed slightly so her blanket doesn't fit properly now? I agree that would be the best solution. In the mean time, I suggest spraying her shoulders with show-sheen - it seemed to help Maia when she got a bit of a rub.

I have the Jammies brand lycra shoulder guard that looks exactly like this: http://s7d5.scene7.com/is/image/PetsUnited/TSLT901061_123090

It's definitely not too big, as it fits my narrow TB mare perfectly. Is it possibly too small?

I will try her light weight on her when weather allows and see how that goes. It's when she has her medium weight on that she has problems now that you mention it. She has gone up and down as far as muscling so maybe that's the issue. Getting new blankets isn't an option financially. Hmmm...

I will try the show sheen idea, JDI. Thanks for the suggestion! Lord knows I have enough show sheen to go around!

It is definitely possible it's too small. A bad fit is a bad fit. Good luck on getting her over it! Looking on the bright side, it most certainly won't kill her. =]

haha I know. But I'm trying to sell her (have several people interested) and it would look horrid if they showed up and she had blanket rubs the size of baseballs! haha

Check out bossy bibs! They are seriously the best, but they have to be shipped from the UK.... you probably can't wait that long :/

Bossy's Bibs look amazing! But I don't want to get one for her and sell her and not be able to use it again :( Parents won't pay for it anyway... I will try the Show sheen for now and if that doesn't work... I will be back for more suggestions!

Thank you so much for the info guys!

Is she pretty average sized? I've seen them go for a good bit on ebay... pretty much what you would pay for a new one.
