I've been looking into getting a kiger mustang/quarter horse cross. She was an accident (breeder intended only to breed kiger mustang to kiger mustang, but his 20-something quarter horse mare made her own decisions and got in on the action). But I'm wondering if anyone has any experiences with with the AHQHA? Is registering with them worth it? Does it really have any benefits other than getting papers on a horse?
On a similar note, does the Kiger horse registry allow half-breeds? She's a beautiful dun including the leg stripes, but I don't know if they'd take her with her being half quarter horse.
Just curious about benefits and possibilities before I put money down on her! Thanks!
If having an official record of ownership and DNA onfile/ verification is important to you then it may be worth the money for your piece of mind. It will not do anything for your horse's status re the AQHA.
