I am going nuts waiting to be able to bathe my new girl! Anyone else feel the same? When I got her, her tail was severely matted to the point the center was just loose hair and I even cut off no joke one foot of hair and it's still inches away from the ground! She hadn't been brushed or groomed for sometime. Now that I have her untangled and brushed out she looks ten times better, but now I have seen how golden her mane and tail are and I can't wait to give her a long and much needed bath! And she has feathers and I want to actually see them cleaned up and well... feathery. :D

Yes! My palomino's tail gets so gross if it's not put up. I could probably get away with washing the ends of her tail, but better safe than sorry, right?

I know my horse is counting down the days until the grass starts growing again, but certainly not for a bath.
Since I also don't groom as much during the bitter cold, I use a de-tangler and leave in condition on his mane and tail before winter sets in to help keep most of the mud and gunk from doing as much damage. Seems to help a little bit.

Lol. Right! I should put some conditioner in her mane and tail as well but it's just so gross anything that goes in just makes it spread. I know now though, for the future to get her ready ahead of time. I'm so looking forward to seeing her roan out during the summer and see that mane and tail actually look flaxen and not brown/black. :D

I have no idea how she's going to take getting a bath, I'm not sure she's had many in her life but I think a few distractions will suffice in making sure she stays put.

How many more days til spring/summer?
